Therapy is a serious undertaking and requires a significant investment of time, effort, and money. It also requires a great deal of vulnerability and authenticity on the part of both you and your therapist. Therefore, it’s important to make sure that we are a good fit before we start therapy. I recommend that we meet for 3-4 sessions for an assessment. During this assessment, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, a little bit about your current life situation, a little bit about your history, and answer any questions you might have about therapy. After 3-4 sessions, I’ll offer my recommendations for treatment. We’ll then discuss your thoughts about it and decide how to move forward. If you or I determine that we aren’t exactly the right fit for you or your goals, I will provide referrals to 2-3 clinicians in the area for you.
